Gulf Coast Flames Hockey
BREAKING NEWS: The Gulf Coast Flames Board of Directors unanimously voted to submit an application to SAHOF for Tier I status for the 2010-2011 Season.
Story: The Board of Directors for the Gulf Coast Flames, at the normally scheduled Board Meeting held on December 8, 2009, unanimously voted to submit an application to SAHOF for Tier I status for the 2010-2011 season. The Board of Directors consists of two team representatives for every team in the Gulf Coast Flames Organization and the four members of the Executive Board. This is the beginning of the process and requires approval from the Tier I Committee for SAHOF. Fred Eaton, the Gulf Coast Flames Hockey, Director fully supports the decision of the Board. The Board approved the submission of an application for a 1995, 1996, and 1998 Tier I team. Assuming the Gulf Coast Flames receives the required approval from SAHOF the purposed coaches for these teams will be Fred Eaton as the head coach for both the 1995 and 1996 teams with Trevor McLean as the head coach for the 1998 team.
Under the Tier I Rules/Guidelines the Tier I committee has up to ten days after the Nationals to give their decision. The National Championships are held in early April, therefore the decision can come as late as mid-April. Under the rules a team may not announce tryout dates until the organization is approved. This rule also applies to any organization that presently has Tier I status as they must submit a new application for approval for Tier I status each year. However, as a team can not announce tryouts until they are approved, which could be as late as mid-April and under the rules a Tier I team must have its tryouts no later than May 16, all teams must have their tryouts within these dates.
